About Sri Lanka

The island of Sri Lanka lies in the Indian Ocean, to the southwest of the Bay of Bengal and to the southeast of the Arabian Sea.

Sri Lanka offers an enviably tropical climate and sunshine for most of the year. With the monsoon season in August, December and January are ideal months to visit to escape the monotony of winter and immerse yourself in the exotic vibrancy of the island. Stretches of the beautiful Indian Ocean offer gloriously empty beaches, a perfectly tranquil setting complete with colourful flora and fauna surrounds.

Sri Lanka was known as Ceylon until 1972, and was a British colony until 1948 when independence was granted. Previously colonised by both the Portuguese and the Dutch, all three influences remain as part of the eclectic mix of Sri Lankan heritage,

The people of Sri Lanka are naturally warm and welcoming, making a visit or a more permanent move nothing short of a pleasure.
